Dir 300 c1 firmware 2.0 20. Checking connection status

Equipment DIR-300 NRU B6

The model turned out to be really good, and many people liked it at the time. This may be why several modifications, or, as they say, revisions, were later released. Let's take a closer look at each.

DIR-300 A1

The very first router, which was produced since 2007. Started the series. It was equipped with 1 external antenna, 1 WAN port and 4 LAN. The processor used was Atheros AR2317 with a frequency of 182 MHz. It had 16 MB of RAM, and 4 MB of memory for data storage.

One of the first routers was very simple

DIR-300 B1, B2, B3, B4

Produced since 2009. The same A1, with a new Ralink RT3052F processor at 384 MHz and twice the RAM. The connectors and appearance remain unchanged. By the way, it was these revisions that were sold in Russia under the label DIR-300NRU.

DIR-300 B5, B6, B7

New hardware, relative to previous versions: Ralink RT5350 processor at 360 MHz. There is the same amount of RAM and flash memory. The devices do not differ in hardware from each other. Externally, B5 and B6 are similar to the previous ones, but B7 came in a new design and was produced only for the Russian market since 2012. Also marked NRU.

The rear panel has a standard set of ports

DIR-300 C1

Externally, the ventilation grille has changed slightly. Internally, a new Realtek RTL8196C processor at 400 MHz has appeared. Ports, connectors and capabilities remain the same.

Increasing the ventilation grille - that’s the whole “restyling”

DIR-300 D1

The processor index has changed - Realtek RTL8196E, but the frequency remains the same - 400 MHz. The appearance and, in fact, the form factor have undergone radical changes. The router received a “standing” position. Produced since 2013. Now you can buy a D-Link DIR-300 D1 router for 800 rubles.

The transition to a new form factor was a fresh decision

DIR-300 S/A1

Completely new look. The device got the processor from D1. The amount of flash memory has been increased to 8 MB. Otherwise the characteristics are the same as the D1. Produced since 2013

Bends and non-standard shapes have already appeared here.

DIR-300 A/A1A

The hardware is a complete copy of the DIR-320 with 4 MB of memory and without a USB port. The design breaks out of the classic “box” and is a cylinder.

The cylindrical shape surprised users a little at first

In a special publication on our portal, we will talk in detail about how to choose a router. You will learn what a router is, which Wi-Fi router is better, or the nuances of choice, how to choose and how to connect the router yourself.

How to connect a D-Link DIR-300 router

In fact, there is nothing complicated about this. First you need to study the controls and connectors a little. The front panel usually contains LED icons that are responsible for indicating processes inside the device:

Front and back sides of the router:

  • power indicator. Standard icon for all types of devices;
  • Internet connection indicator. This is usually an icon in the form of a globe;
  • Wi-Fi indicator. Several waves. Lights up - connected, blinks - data is being transferred;
  • LAN port indicator. Can be numbered according to ports. By analogy with Wi-Fi, if it blinks, it is transmitting data, if it lights up, it is connected.

On the back panel there are 4 LAN ports (black or blue) and 1 WAN port. The latter is yellow and can be labeled as internet or wan. On the back panel there is also a power connector, a reset button, and on some revisions a WPS button. A special blue cable is usually supplied with the router. It is already crimped on both sides and is ready for use. It is with its help that the initial configuration of the router is performed.

It connects to one of the LAN ports, it makes no difference which one. The second end must be inserted into the computer's network card connector. Connect the power and turn it on. This completes the physical connection of the D-Link DIR-300 router. After the wireless network is configured, you can disconnect the cable and use the Internet over the air.

How to reset a D-Link DIR-300 router

The router has an emergency return system to default settings if something suddenly goes wrong. There are two ways to do this - through the web interface, which we will talk about later, and physically - using the Reset button on the back of the device. In order to activate the D-Link DIR-300 reset process, you need to take a thin object - a paperclip, match or the like, press the button and hold it for more than 10 seconds. All settings will be reset to default.

How to set up a D-Link DIR-300 router

All configuration of DIR-300 takes place in the router’s web interface. But in order to get into it, you need to connect the router to the computer via a network connection. To do this, at the beginning of the article we inserted a special cable into both devices. Now let's see how to set it all up.

Preparatory stage - setting up a connection to the operating system

After the cable has been inserted into the LAN ports of both devices, the operating system should detect and automatically create a network connection with the router. At this stage, a small problem may occur: there is no network connection. This usually occurs due to an incorrect IP address setting in the network connection protocol settings. The fact is that the router, using DHCP technology, distributes IP addresses at random every time you turn on or connect a new device. That is, one may get 192.168.0.2, and the other - 192.168.0.102. And in the computer settings there may be an address specified manually, and even from a different subnet. Therefore, if there is no connection, you need to check this parameter first. To do this, go to the control panel and find the “View network status and tasks” item.

Control Panel

Then select “Local Area Connection” from the list of networks. In the window that appears, click “Properties”.

Properties and Networks

In the new window, select “Internet Protocol Version 4” and click the “Properties” button. Finally, what you need will open. Here you need to check whether the switch is set to “Obtain an IP address automatically” and “Obtain DNS server address automatically”. If not, then enable both modes.

How to configure the D-Link DIR-300 router

Once the connection has appeared, you can begin setting up the router itself. All manipulations will be carried out in its web interface. Therefore, you need to start from the entrance.

Login to the router interface

To log in we will need any browser. Having opened it, you need to enter the IP addresses of our router in the address bar. By default, this is 192.168.0.1. Less common is 192.168.1.1.

Login to the admin panel

The login window will open. Here you need to enter your username and password. Usually this is the pair admin-admin, less often - admin and an empty field or 12345. After entering the password and login, we will be taken to the holy of holies - the administrative panel of the router.

By default, the device information page opens. Here you can view various service data: revisions, firmware versions, network name, MAC address. The sections on the left define the categories of settings.

First admin page

Setting up an Internet connection

To configure the network, oddly enough, we need to go to the section of the same name. Here you need to select the “WAN” subsection. There is an “Add” button in the lower right corner. It activates the process of creating a new Internet connection.

Adding a network

The system will immediately prompt you to select the connection type. For most cable providers this will be PPPoE. Next, to easily connect to the Internet, we need only three points: the already mentioned connection type, username, password and its confirmation. In the login and password fields we indicate the data provided by the provider. They can be found in the agreement or annex to it. Click “Apply”. After this, the globe icon on the front panel of the router should blink.

Creating a connection

Setting up a D-Link DIR-300 Wi-Fi router

Now you need to distribute wireless traffic. There is a special Wi-Fi section for this. The first part of the wireless network configuration will take place in the “Basic Settings” subsection.

First, you need to turn it on if it is suddenly turned off. Therefore, we check whether the “Enable wireless connection” checkbox is checked. Then you need to set the network name, which will be visible in the list of available networks. The SSID field is responsible for this. The default router can substitute its own name, which can be used without changes.

In this menu, you can pay attention to two more items: “Hide access point” and “Wireless mode”. Using the first one, you can hide your network so that it can be accessed only by name, that is, it will not appear in the list of available networks. The second determines in what modes the router will operate. Recommended - mixed so that different types of devices can connect to the network. Essentially, modes are options for data transfer rates.

Wi-Fi Settings

After specifying all parameters, click the “Apply” button.

Checking connection status

Checking network availability is now very easy. Disconnect the cable from the router. We turn on Wi-Fi on the device, find our network and try to connect. If the “Hide access point” flag was set, you will have to find the “Connect to a hidden network” item and manually specify the network name.

If the Internet becomes available, it means everything is configured correctly. However, there is a problem - the network does not have a password. This means that anyone can connect to it. Including attackers. We need to set it up.

Setting a password for the Wi-Fi router D-Link DIR-300

The “Security Settings” subsection of the Wi-Fi section of the router’s administrative panel is responsible for the password. By the way, you can also access the panel via a wireless connection by again typing 192.168.0.1 in the browser address bar.

Security Settings

There aren't many settings here. First, you need to set the authentication type. WPA2-PSK is considered the most secure today. Then you need to enter the password in the field. All. Now all that remains is to remember the entered password and click “Apply”.

How to back up your router settings

Sometimes you may need to restore already saved settings after a failed firmware update, accidental reset, or system error. To do this, you can create a backup copy, which will be stored in a secluded place on your hard drive, and, if necessary, restore the system. The “System” section and the “Configuration” subsection are responsible for this. The items for the operation of creating a file and downloading it are called that way. Click the button, specify the path on your computer and save. In order to recover data, we perform the same operation. It's simple.

Configuration

What to do if router firmware is required

Firmware is a rather serious operation on a router. Its necessity may arise in cases where the device begins to malfunction, loses Wi-Fi, or reboots itself. And if even resetting to factory settings does not help, then perhaps the salvation lies in the firmware.

Another reason for updating the firmware may be the desire to use the router to its full potential. The fact is that the original software uses hardware in a balanced manner, without requiring maximum performance from it. Custom firmware accelerates it to its full potential. However, this approach has a significant disadvantage - it is overheating and failure of the power circuits.

We will not describe the firmware process, since each revision uses its own approach and its own tools. But a few recommendations can be given. You shouldn’t rush to reflash your router right away, because you can first try resetting it to factory settings. Almost all models have a built-in update mechanism that can be activated manually. Before updating your D-Link DIR-300 router, do not forget to make a backup copy.

System update

And if you decide to reflash your router, then use the instructions from authoritative sources. For example, the official website has basic tips and guides. Also, the 4PDA forum has a huge knowledge base, firmware and tools for each of the presented revisions of DIR-300.

Features of setting up the D-Link DIR-300 router using the example of the Beeline provider

Beeline uses the L2TP type to connect to the Internet. Accordingly, the technique for creating such a connection will be slightly different. However, all procedures performed before logging into the admin panel can be taken from the normal router settings. Next we will need to get to the WAN subsection of the “Networks” section. Here you need to specify L2TP + Dynamic IP. You can enter anything you want in the name field, but you will still only see it here in the admin panel.

Beeline setup

Then you need to find the “VPN server address” field and specify the address. Usually it is the same - tp.internet.beeline.ru. Next you need to specify a username and password. They must be specified in the contract.

Beeline setup

The rest of the settings can be left as is. We have already written about how to set up Wi-Fi above, the methodology is the same.

Features of setting up the D-Link DIR-300 router using the example of the Rostelecom provider

The setup instructions are completely the same as setting up a PPPoE connection described at the beginning of the article. However, it is worth checking when creating a connection that the Keep Alive checkbox is checked. Along with the Internet, Rostelecom allows you to set up IPTV. This is also done in the WAN subsection of the “Networks” section. We need to find an item here in connection types called IPoE. However, it is not present in new firmware. But there is a static IP. We choose him. Set the MTU field to 1492.

Setting up IPoE for Rostelecom

Then you will have to go to the “Advanced” section, the “Miscellaneous” subsection and make sure that the checkbox is checked in IGMP, version 2. That’s all.

Situation in which it is necessary to do restoring firmware on DIR-300 routers different revisions may arise for various reasons. In addition to a malfunction in the firmware, when a WiFi router simply stops distributing the Internet and its web interface becomes unavailable, this could also be a simple rollback to the usual “stock” firmware after DD-WRT. Or it could be a recovery after an unsuccessful flashing, when the router was fed firmware from a different hardware version.
In general, the developers - the D-Link company - foresaw such a development of events and on many modern devices they created an Emergency Web Server or Failsafe UI, which is actually the same thing. Now let's figure out together how to use it.

Before doing anything with the router, you must first download the firmware from the official D-Link server - ftp.dlink.ru:

You can find out what hardware version of DIR-300 you have on the sticker on the back cover of the case:

After that, go to the desired folder on the server, look for the “Firmware” directory there and download the latest firmware version and the previous one, just in case. After that, we begin to conjure with a piece of iron. We disconnect the provider’s cable from it and all clients, except the computer from which we will do the recovery.
Then we do this - go to the Local Area Connections settings and manually enter the IP address in the properties of the TCP/IPv4 protocol 192.168.0.2 , mask 255.255.255.0 and the gateway - 192.168.0.1 :

You can register the addresses of DNS servers, or you can not - this is not important, because they will not be used. Click on OK and close the settings.

We take our DIR-300 in our hands and press the button Reset:

Keeping it pressed, turn off the power to the router with your other hand and turn it on again. Wait 15 seconds and release Reset.

Now you need to launch an Internet browser and enter the address in the address bar - http://192.168.0.1. The result should be like this:

There may be another nuance here. Earlier DIR-300 models had a disaster recovery interface at a different address. Therefore, if your router does not respond to 192.168.0.1, then again go to the properties of the TCP/IP protocol and register the following IP:

IP: 192.168.20.80
mask:255.255.255.0

You also need to enter the address 192.168.20.81 in the address bar of the browser:

The interface of Emergency Web Server and Failsafe UI is virtually identical - a file selection button, and a button to start flashing. Click on “Browse” and select the downloaded file with the firmware. Then click on “Upload” and wait for the process to complete.

What do we have as a result? Working router D-Link DIR-300! All the best!

Hello, I have already written a lot in various articles about setting up Dlink routers. And I received many comments with the question of changing the firmware or restoring the firmware. I decided to write one complete article about router firmware from Dlink Dir 300 companies. Here I will try to answer all questions, explain the change to a newer firmware on all previous versions of the software. And of course, we’ll consider restoring the firmware of this model.
Content

How to determine what router model you have

In order to start downloading the firmware. You must first decide on the version of your router, since the Dlink company has released a huge number of series for the Dir-300 model. To find out exactly what model of router you have, you need to look at the back panel of the router, where your version of the router is written on a special label. They look something like this.

As is clear from the images, “H/W Ver:” indicates the router model, for example B5 C1 A1, and F/W Ver.: the firmware version.

Where to download software (firmware)

After we have decided on our router model, we need to download new firmware. We can do this on the official website of the Dlink companies, here is a direct link to all versions https://ftp.dlink.ru/pub/Router/. Here you can find firmware for all routers and company devices. We find our devices in the lists

Let's go to the folder of our model, I will go to the DIR-300_NRU folder since there are firmwares for several router models at once.

Going to the model folder, select the folder with the firmware for it “Firmware”. After that, inside this folder we will select our router model, I will select the B7 folder.

After entering this folder, the very first file will be the latest version of the software for our model, and in the “Old” folder there will be all previous versions.

Firmware DIR-300 is the latest developed interface.

Let's start with the most important thing: the latest version of the Dlink development interface. This version includes firmware (1.4.0, 1.4.9, 1.5.0, 2.5.0 and many others starting with versions 1.4.0). This firmware is supported by models C1, B2, B2, B3, B5, B6, B7 (maybe there are other models, write in the comments and I’ll add them). Externally, this interface is designed in dark colors, dark gray. Detailed description about that.

After we have entered the interface, go to “Advanced settings”. Then in the “System” column, click on the forward arrow once.

And select “Update software” from the menu item.

In the soldered window, click the “browse” button and find and select our .bin file. Then you will need to click the “Update” button and wait until the firmware is installed.

Attention: Do not turn off the power of the router until it is completely updated, otherwise the update will fail.

Firmware 1.3.0 previous interface

This type of firmware has a white-blue interface and is suitable for models DIR-300 NRU B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B7. To update the firmware, you need to go to the router settings; if you don’t know how to do this, then you first need to find out. By default, it is usually 192.168.0.1 Login and password are also by default admin/admin or the data that you specified in the settings.
Then select in the window that opens. Select “System” from the top menu, then select “Software Update” from the menu below. Now, by clicking on the “Select file” button, find your .bin file, and click update settings.

.

Firmware 1.2.x second version of the interface

The interface of this firmware is a combination of white and dark green (probably something like this, if not, correct it in the comments). Just like 1.3.0 is suitable for many routers. To configure, let's go to the router interface (if you don’t know how, read). Then select “System” in the menu on the right, and in the drop-down menu, select your new firmware. Then click the "Update" button.

.

Firmware 1.x.x first version series A1 C1 B1

The very first version of the firmware, if you have it, it means you bought the router a long time ago. The appearance of the interface is a combination of dark gray and yellow. Suitable for initial series like A1 C1 B1 and B2. We go to the router interface, . Then select “MAINTENANCE” in the top menu, then select “Firmware” in the left menu. In the “Firmware upgrade” section, click on the “Browse” button and select our new software version. Then click on the “Upload” button.

Solving the problem with changing the DIR-300 C1 firmware

The D-Link DIR-300 C1 router with firmware 1.0.0 has a problematic firmware method. To flash the firmware for this router, you need to install a third-party program from Dlink companies. You can download this program from the link ftp://ftp.dlink.ru/pub/Router/DIR-300A_C1/Firmware/bootloader_update/dcc_v.0.2.92_2012.12.07.zip. Then unpack the archive and run the dcc.exe file, a window will open

After which you need to click on the “Connect and configure device” button. Then keep clicking “Next” (you can read the information in the windows). Then the flashing process will begin, it will take some time.

Emergency firmware recovery

It very rarely happens that the router will be reflashed unsuccessfully, and you will not be able to access the router settings at 192.168.0.1. Then you will need to restore the firmware, fortunately the Dlink company has simplified this action for us.

And so, in order for us to restore the firmware, we must first leave one connection with the computer’s router. The next thing you need to do is configure the network card with a static IP address. And in the “IP address we” field we put 192.168.0.10 and in the “Subnet mask” field we put 255.255.255.0.

Without releasing the button, we restore the power to the router, wait until the router boots up for about 15 seconds, then release the Reset button.

Now open any browser on your computer and enter 192.168.0.1 in the address bar. The firmware recovery page will open in front of us.

Here, by clicking on the “Browse” button, we need to find our .bin file, with the firmware from the router. And click on the send button. We all wait 4-5 minutes.

Now let's restore the network card settings to automatic

That's it, the firmware recovery is complete and you can proceed to.

One of the latest models of D-Link routers, namely the DIR-300 C1, among other things, is known for the fact that not everyone is able to update the firmware of this router. When you go to the web interface for setting up the DIR-300 C1 wireless router and try to install a new firmware file in the “Software Update” section, after the process is completed, the router software version remains the same. In this manual, the DIR-300 C1 firmware will be discussed in as much detail as possible, from start to finish.

Download the necessary files from the official D-Link website

Before you start flashing the firmware for the Wi-Fi router DIR-300 C1, follow the link http://ftp.dlink.ru/pub/Router/DIR-300A_C1/Firmware/ (this is the official D-Link website, the folder with firmware for this router version), where you need:

After you have done this, connect the router to your computer using a wire, not via Wi-Fi, and, preferably, disconnect the provider’s cable from it while flashing. Thus, you should have the following configuration: the connector of the network card of your computer or laptop is connected by wire to one of the LAN ports on the DIR-300 C1, the router is plugged into a power outlet.

Also check the LAN connection settings on your computer. It is recommended that the parameters for obtaining an IP address and DNS server address be set to “Automatic”.

Using the Click’n’Connect program to flash the router firmware

Unpack the archive downloaded from the D-Link website and run the dcc.exe file located in it - the utility for setting up the D-Link Click’N’Connect^ router will start

However, that's not all. Despite the fact that new firmware was installed on the router, it is not the latest and works flawlessly. However, thanks to this action, we can now install the latest router firmware using standard web interface tools.

Firmware DIR-300 C1 via web interface

Without disconnecting the router and without connecting new wires to it, go to the router settings panel, for which:

  1. Enter the address 192.168.0.1 into the browser address bar
  2. When prompted for a login and password to enter the settings, enter: admin and admin respectively

The next thing to do is to click “Advanced settings” at the bottom of the router settings page, then, in the “System” item, click the double left arrow there and select the “Software Update” link.

On the page that opens, intended for updating the router software, click the “Browse” button and specify the path to the latest firmware.bin file that we downloaded earlier and click the “Update” button.

Now we just have to wait for the new firmware of the DIR-300 C1 router to be installed. It is worth noting here that during the firmware update process the router may stop responding, the browser may show errors, the connection may be interrupted, etc. In any case, do not take any action either until the message that the firmware has been successfully updated, or for 10 minutes after you have started the firmware process. After that, simply enter the address 192.168.0.1 into your browser's address bar again.

Good luck! If you have any questions, write in the comments.

Firmware for DIR-300 C1 for Beeline most often ends in failure. The router stops responding, freezes, and turns into a brick. The question arises: how to bring the piece of iron back to life?

This is what we will do now.

So, first of all, having connected your computer to the Internet, let’s directly go to the official D-Link page dlink.ru. Let's select the link to the Support page.

dlink.ru Select Support

On the right side menu we find the item FTP.DLINK.RU

And there is a Router item in it

We find the router model we need (Carefully!) and download the firmware file to the computer.

Then we turn off the Internet and change the network connection settings on the computer. To do this, open the “Network and Sharing Center.” We look for and open the link on the left to “Change adapter settings” and find in the window that opens the “Local Area Connection” we need. Next, right-click on it and select “Properties” from the context menu. In the window of components used by this connection we find “Internet Protocol TCP/IP v4”. Select it and click the “Properties” button under the components window. And in the window that opens, enter the following values:

We connect the router to the computer’s network card via the LAN1 connector. Hold down the Reset button and, without releasing it, turn on the router. Keep Reset pressed for about 30 seconds. Then we release and try to access the WEB interface of the router via a browser (Chrome, Internet Explorer, etc.). To do this, enter the address 192.168.0.1 in the router address line and make the transition. Instead of the usual invitation to enter your username and password, we find ourselves in the Emergency Room of the router.

Using the review button, we find the firmware that we downloaded from the router manufacturer’s FTP and click the Upload button.

After flashing the firmware, you need to return the network settings to the original ones.

Then close and open the browser again and go to the address of the router WEB interface: 192.168.0.1 If we see a login window like this, it means our router has recovered.
